Zaria is a city and a Local Government Area in Kaduna state, Nigeria. Zaria was formerly known as Zazzau and it was one of the seven original Hausa city-states. Nigeria's largest university is located in Zaria, Ahmadu Bello University. It is also the second largest in Africa. The institution is very prominent in the fields of Agriculture, Science, Finance, Medicine and Law.Dwellers in this area engage in agriculture. The city is considered by some to be a main center of Hausa agriculture. Islam is the dominant religion in this local government area.
