Oyo State Government has unveiled an ultra modern Lagos liaison office complex in GRA, Ikeja, valued at ₦170.9million.  The project was commissioned by the past administration.

The complex, which was unveiled recently is located within the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ikeja, Lagos contains 15 guest room chalets, a staff quarter and a administrative block cost the government the sum of ₦170.9million and is backed up with 24-hour electricity supply with two heavy duty sound proof generators and transformer.

The refurbished complex is expected to serve as the new governor’s lodge in the commercial capital of the country, Lagos, while it would also provide comfortable accommodation for top state government functionaries who are on official duties in Lagos state.

The project, which adds to the state’s infrastructural development dated back to 1976 when the then western region was divided into three-Oyo, Ogun and Ondo states respectively.  It was said that as part of its heritage, the property was allocated to Oyo in 1992, after the creation of Osun State.

The complex was said to have been done following inadequacy of office accommodation and the absolute lack of residential accommodation for top officials of Oyo state government who are often on assignment in and around Lagos.

At the unveiling ceremony, the immediate past Governor, Otunba Christopher Aloa Akala, who hailed the timely completion of the project, urged the new administration to put in place extensive maintenance of the facility.

“We have without any doubt made a difference. The essential infrastructure in several parts of the state have either been renewed or totally upgraded. Our challenge therefore to the new administration is that the entire renewed and rehabilitated infrastructure should not be allowed to sink into rot and decay. They must be properly maintained to justify the huge amount of money expended on them.”
